This bathroom has a floor of wall-to-wall Foliage Corner "Antique" with a travertine lined shower and a satin-finish black sink cabinet. Light from the large window falls on the floor on the right. The Foliage Corner Tile has a bit of an Art Nouveau look. In addition to its use in a border, it can be used as a tessellated field tile both with and without a complimentary border. The cement tile hit its 'hayday' in Barcelona during the Art Nouveau period. Even today, Barcelona has hundreds of examples of lavisly patterned cement tile floors and walkways still in use. In regions in and around Spain the cement tile is often refered to as "Barcelona Tile". Many of these tiles have been documented in a book called Barcelona Tile. |
