Named for the Trapani province in Sicily, our Trapani Tile reflects the rhythms of life in this coastal area. Trapani is known for the famous Marsala and other fine wines, art, valuable salt trade,and fishing, Additionally, Arabic and Spanish cultural influences are evident in the town of San Vito Lo Capo. Here one finds low white houses shaded from the sun and wind and shrouded in flowering vines. The air is rich with the scents from jasmine, hibiscus, lemons and limes. Some of the Trapani region calls to mind the far shores of the Mediterranean around North Africa. This unique part of the world is made even more interesting by the traces of ancient civilizations left here. The design on our Trapani Tile is an intricate interlocking trellis with elements from the sea and salt air dispersed throughout.
