Measuring for Roto Tile™ will be much more difficult than measuring for square or even hexagonal tile. Because of the errors that can occur in communicating dimensions and describing spaces over the phone or e-mail, we regretfully cannot assist you in calculating the number of tiles you will need. If you are not confident with your estimates, we recommend hiring an experienced professional designer, architect or tile contractor. They can professionally measure your space and pre-plan your layout. Their experience can also help you avoid pitfalls, such as not allowing enough overage for broken tiles and cuts along the edge of the layout. Another benefit to hiring a designer or architect is that they can use their local knowledge to help select a tile contractor who has experience working with this, and other specialty tile.
Note: These tile are manufactured to metric measurements, US standard measurements are approximations.

The best way to describe the connector shape and dimensions is to imagine an equilateral triangle of about 12.4" (31.5 cm), then remove a pie-shaped wedge from each point equivalent to 1/6 of the 8" circle tile.
This description can also help you visualize your overall layout, as it shows that the center point of each circle tile will be about 12.4" from the center of its nearest circular neighbors (plus two grout lines, of your preferred thickness).
The layout of these tile requires two connector tiles for each circle tile. The illustration to the left shows the smallest repeating rectangular pattern, to help you visualize the calculations you will need to make in planning your installation.
As you can see, this portion contains a total of one circle tile, and two connector tiles, and the measurements shown do not include the grout-width you may add. For the pattern shown here, you would add two grout-line widths to the vertical, and 1.5 grout-line widths to the horizontal for more accurate estimates.
When interviewing designers and tile contractors, consider asking them about their experience with non-standard tiles such as hexagonal and octagonal tiles, and complex mosaic patterns.
