Cement Tile Makes a Big Splash on TV!

Villa Lagoon Tile’s in-stock “La Española” tile was recently featured in an episode of DIY Network’s “Kitchen Crashers”.  Episode 204, “Time to Tear out that Carpet” originally aired July 12, and showcased our beautiful cement tile both as a backsplash, and a rich and beautiful accent wall.

Villa Lagoon Tile’s founder and designer, Lundy P. Wilder was proud to help Rebekah Zaveloff (of Design in a Bag and KitchenLabs fame) bring her beautiful vision together with our La Española cement tile.

Host and designer Alison Victoria did a great job bringing the crew together to provide this Chicago area couple with a kitchen most only dream of.  Stop daydreaming and make your dream kitchen come true!

Cement Tile Finding New Popularity

Gisela Williams of the Financial Times recently published a story in the House & Home section titled, “Tile style: down with beige”.

Handmade cement or ceramic tiles, inspired by those first produced in Portugal, Spain and France, have been lining the most unexpected surfaces lately. From bedroom walls at the new Soho Beach House in Miami to the dining room floor of interior designer Ashley Hicks’s country house in Oxfordshire, tiles are making a comeback.

This great article continues to discuss the history of cement tile, and its modern resurgence in popularity.   They even highlight some of Villa Lagoon Tile’s  Jeff Shelton Collection tiles.  Read the article here!

Our USA TV Debut !! TONIGHT

This week is “Crash” week on DIY…

And I’d like to invite you to watch DIY Network’s “Kitchen Crashers” tonight – July 12 10:00PM Eastern/ 9:00PM Central- 10:00PM Pacific.

Villa Lagoon Tile will be used in a project called, “Tear Out that Carpet.” The tile used in the project is called, “La Espanola.” It’s one of our most popular tiles !

Interior designer and host, Alison Victoria, picks a birthday girl out a large crowd after she claims her carpeted kitchen is as bad as it gets. The green carpet is just the beginning of a long list of issues in this dated, isolated and under-utilized kitchen.

Hope you can catch this episode and see how our hand-made tiles can be used to make a surprised homeowner’s day…

Printable Brochure of our Cement Tile

Of course there is no way we can keep a printed catalog current since our number of patterns grows so fast, but here is a printable brochure for a nice overview of cement tile.

Today we found out that our tile is to be included in an article in London’s Financial Time’s House + Home section. It is printed in 26 countries and has a readership of over 2 million ! Can’t wait to see it.

Do I need a Designer?

I read a nice post on the KSL Interiors blog. She gives such valid information on how hiring a designer can really benefit a client.

Today, after dealing with the most difficult contractor I have ever had to work with, I remembered why I am great at my job. There is a real value in a designer far beyond aesthetics. We know how to work with trades: contractors, architects and suppliers to make your environment look better than you could ever envision on your own.

She continues on to list her favorite reasons to hire a designer, including their expertise, the price benefits you can realize through their business connections, and the headaches they can prevent by handling all of the third parties for you.

We know from experience that a designer will remember things like trim pieces. We know that they have software to do a proper layout and determine the correct number of tile to order. We also know that they have done their homework before they call and generally have most decisions made before they inquire about buying our tile. We love designers. I have no doubt that the above list of reasons to hire an interior designer is 100% valid. On major renovation work…for gosh sakes, HIRE A DESIGNER.
