Sculptural Geometry: Large-Scale Breeze Block Privacy Screens at Donelson Library
Atomic-Age Revival: The Donelson Library’s Geometric Breeze Block Facade
This architectural capture showcases the soaring southern facade of the Nashville Public Library - Donelson Branch, where the Kauai Breeze Block serves as a monumental privacy screen. Expertly executed by Messer Construction Co. and designed by HASTINGS Architecture, this LEED Gold-certified structure utilizes the white cement blocks to create a "building envelope within a building." The screen provides high-impact visual privacy for library patrons while maintaining a translucent, airy connection to the surrounding Donelson Plaza. By night, the interior glow transforms the geometric wall into a radiant urban lantern, highlighting the playful "Atomic Age" silhouettes that define this 25,000-square-foot civic landmark.
